Mō te tīma | About our Team
This role sits within All of Government Services Delivery (AoGSD), part of the Digital Public Service Branch (DPS) who bring together the functions that deliver services to or for the public sector and is responsible for an All of Government Portfolio of digital products and ICT Services. The role of the Digital Public Service branch is to work with and through agencies to drive and deliver a customer-centered digital government.
We champion the use of Common Capabilities and centralized essential information products and services across agencies, as well as championing All of Government standards and guidelines.
The Back Office Digital Transformation Service (BoDTS) is one of these centralized services and has been created to reduce the cost, risk, complexity and time taken to deliver back-office systems, through standardised, high quality, all-of-government processes, tools and systems.
The Service provides agencies with a common set of standardised processes and will provide tools to support agencies as they modernise their back-office functions (e.g. HR, Finance, Procurement) making use of previously used collateral and design to streamline the process, to lower cost and risk, and to increase efficiency.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and credible senior leader to manage this newly formed team. With a focus on creating a service that galvanizes connectivity across the system this role is responsible for leading the success of the BoDTS and realisation of value and benefits of this service across Government. As a confident, articulate and influential leader you will take ownership of communicating the value and benefits of the BoDTS, ensuring that this unlocks added value from System Leaders' strategies and system-wide initiatives. By utilising common processes and tools across Back-office functions, the system can leverage strategic priorities beyond just BoDTS and your role is to see this come to fruition.
Responsible for three distinct workstreams, you will ensure that the BoDTS is used across the Public Sector, provides fit for purpose processes, tools, support and systems for agencies, and that the benefits of the service are being delivered to the system. You will provide strategic leadership to back-office transformation projects, and provide the BoDTS with leadership, management and strategic guidance.
Engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders, you will drive how these initiatives can add or are adding value to the system and will track and evaluate the impact of these activities, ensuring that the service joins up with related activities across the system to drive wider benefits for all agencies.
You will lead the team to build robust and well-defined products and services for the Common Process Model, Master Back-Office Library and SaaS tools panels and will oversee the communication both across agencies and across the wider system. You will also ensure that all back-office system projects have visibility and value is optimised across the system, and that value-add streams such as E-invoicing, Common Data Models, and Artificial Intelligence are incorporated into agency change projects.
You will be responsible for;
- Leading engagement with Ministers, Chief Executives, System and Functional Leads and senior stakeholders across the system, DIA and within the branch
- Providing strategic professional leadership and delivery of the Common Process Model (CPM) and Master Back-Office Library (MBOL)
- Leading the BoDTS strategy and leading Branch strategy relevant to back-office transformation projects
- Providing thought leadership across the system on back-office projects
- Directing the team to deliver on the service offering with appropriate milestones and activities in place and measured against
- Ensuring measurement and monitoring of value and benefits of BoDTS captured through the establishment of analytics and reporting of performance measures
- Ensuring there is a clear understanding of the purpose, objectives and benefits of the BoDTS across government and buy in from the system
- Contributing to the leadership, strategy and operational direction of the AoG Services Delivery Group by actively participating in the leadership and management team and being involved in appropriate forums
