Reporting to the Group CFO, the Commercial Manager is a newly created role. As the business has grown, so has the need for Manager’s and Project Owners to gain more detailed insight into financial performance and commercial risk, enabling them to make sound business decisions. This is a key role where you will use both your financial and commercial understanding of the construction/contracting sector to advise on commercial decisions around pricing and tendering. Key areas of focus will include: - Leading contract reviews as well as contract reporting & retention management - Assisting with the tendering process and reporting actual vs tendered amounts - Ensuring accurate capture of WIP adjustments, challenging accuracy if required - Ensuring the accuracy of the Cost Management System against status of jobs and profit centres - Reporting on forward works and maintaining a register of bonds - Driving efficiencies in the business, working with Managers on continuous improvement - Assisting in budget preparation at an operational level The Commercial Manager will need to think ahead, anticipating workloads and juggling multiple projects. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong background working in a similar role in a commercially focussed business, with a high level of financial acumen and the ability to influence in a consultative manner. You will have a pragmatic thinking style with excellent communication skills and will have a positive and focused approach. Working in the civil construction sector means you will need to be confident dealing with people at all levels, with a range of different styles and personalities. You will need to be adaptable and resilient and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. An understanding of the construction or contracting sector would be a distinct advantage.
