Our public service is being called upon to deliver a unified, seamless and effective digital experience for all New Zealanders. As a member of the Digital Services branch you will help champion this change. We are seeking an experienced Commercial leader to lead and further improve our portfolio of commercial products and services.

The Digital Services Branch works across the public service to connect, influence and support the system to take advantage of new digital opportunities. It also supports the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) to drive the government’s digital transformation and position government to succeed in a changing and evolving digital age.

**About the role**:
The All of Government Services Delivery Group (AoGSD) is responsible for a broad Portfolio of All of Government ICT services and digital products to over 300 government agencies. AoGSD works closely with the supply market to deliver modern digital and ICT services across government, through common capability agreements, cloud framework agreements and marketplace.govt.nz contracts. Over $1 billion annually goes through our Portfolio.

As an experienced commercial leader, you will take the lead on ensuring that the Portfolio delivers value to government agencies, are fit for purpose, and meet the needs of agencies and the system. You’ll ensure suppliers to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding contractual obligations, that we drive value for money for agencies, and that we maintain good working relationships with suppliers.

You will be responsible for a team of around 15 people which includes commercial advisors, supplier performance and contract managers, and the Marketplace team. You will work closely with other Managers in the AoGSD team to ensure that the portfolio remains relevant, secure, and delivering value to agencies, and you will liaise with Government procurement leads to ensure consistency of approach.

This multi-faceted and pivotal role involves:

- supporting the General Manager AoGSD to ensure supplier and Marketplace performance and accountability measures are met
- Ensuring that our services meet the needs of agencies for value, security, ease of use and relevance
- Delivering significant contract renewals and renegotiations
- Developing and maintaining annual workplans, and quarterly plans, for strategic supplier management
- Ensuring other significant suppliers have appropriate management in place
- Business ownership of improvements to the Marketplace to support the strategic direction
- Working with programmes of delivery to ensure that major commercial changes are well supported commercially
- Collaborating with the wider Branch on commissioning of new products and services into the portfolio
- Provide thought leadership within AoGSD
- Managing project and operational budgets and revenue

**About you**:
You will have extensive experience in managing commercial engagements and delivery, in negotiating significant contracts, and managing supplier performance. You will have a focus on outcomes, and on the needs of our end customers - the government agencies of New Zealand. Ideally you will:

- Bring a demonstrated understanding of how to lead and guide other leaders through the development of negotiation plans, and commercial engagements
- Demonstrate strong ability to improve and build on supplier portfolio governance
- Bring a customer-centric perspective to our mahi
- Experience in leading teams through change
- Have the capability to deliver valuable and relevant strategic advice
- Possess good senior stakeholder skills and have the ability to manage complex and challenging relationships
- Have significant experience in providing clear and relevant information to governance bodies and to senior internal stakeholders
- Be a collaborator, willing to work with and guide your peers, yet retain a strong voice of your own

**What we offer**:

- A busy, varied and interesting portfolio of work
- Exposure across government agencies with value-driven interesting work
- The on-going support of teams within the branch to encourage diversity of thought and challenge the status quo and knowledge sharing
- A professional development ethos
- A range of benefits including access to discounted healthcare, subsided school holiday programmes, allowance for vision and hearing care, with a variety of social committee and networks available
