Auckland City, New Zealand MEGA Full time

**Location**:Working remotely in the APAC region

**Job Type**:Full time, Permanent

MEGA The Privacy Company provides global services from its Head Office in New Zealand. Built with **Privacy by Design**, MEGA provides a range of zero-knowledge encrypted cloud storage and communication solutions for individuals and businesses.

We launched in 2013 and have grown to an international team of more than 200 people who are motivated by next-generation technology and design, supporting over 280 million registered users on our desktop and mobile apps across all major platforms.

Our workforce and userbase are growing day by day, and we are preparing for the release of several landmark products and feature updates in the short-term future. We are looking to hire an ambitious technical leader to support this success by growing a high-performance team dedicated to the development and optimisation of MEGA’s sophisticated SDK.

**About the role***:

- Engineer high-performance, high-capacity code that is concise, testable, scalable, and adheres to our strict security and privacy standards
- Encourage growth and engagement within your team through mentorship and knowledge-sharing, fostering a work environment in which engineers can thrive
- Draw from industry-leading methodology to contribute to established engineering practices and our technical infrastructure, improving overall reliability and efficiency
- Address persistent pain points and bottlenecks by reducing technical debt, efficiently leveraging tools, and automating manual processes where possible
- Collaborate with the Product, Design, and QA teams as you build the tools required to produce seamless user experiences for our massive userbase

Please note that we run an asynchronous, hybrid-remote model at MEGA, and this role may require early-morning or late-night availability as you work alongside staff in different time zones.

**About you**:
You’re a technical leader with a passion for the industry and a keen awareness of the latest trends, technologies, and approaches. While you are able to work effectively in a self-directed manner, you also enjoy sharing your knowledge and empowering your colleagues to work as a highly productive, close-knit team.

You demonstrate MEGA’s values by taking ownership of your work and pursuing continuous improvement, proactively identifying present or potential issues and seeking to efficiently resolve them. Also, you have:

- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years’ experience as a Software Engineering Team Lead, with a track record of building and managing high-performance teams
- 7+ years’ experience working in C++, and the ability to work in C++11
- An appreciable background in profiling apps and identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies
- A strong skillset in database, network, and algorithmic programming
- A robust awareness of, and sensitivity to, changing methodology and theory with regard to software engineering best-practices
- Familiarity with the Agile approach to project governance
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

**What MEGA offers***:
Along with a flexible working policy, a deliberate culture of internal development, and top-of-the-line tools, you will enjoy a competitive remuneration package.

This is a stable role within a growth industry, offering the opportunity to work as a part of an elite, well-resourced, global team.

With attentive leadership and an emphasis on innovation, you’ll grow alongside MEGA as we continue to cement our industry-leading position.
