Senior Patient Safety Advisor

**Location**: Mainly Wellington Regional Hospital, however expected to work across the District as required
**Contract**: Permanent, Part Time 0.8 FTE (negotiable)

**Salary**: $79,852 - $119,927 (pro-rata)

**About the Role**

The Senior Patient Safety Advisor reports to the Quality & Patient Safety Manager, and will lead a small team, providing direction and support. This role requires you to have a relevant clinical background and experience in the areas of patient safety, quality, improvement, project management and equity.

The primary purpose of the Patient Safety Team is to improve patient safety and system resilience to reduce harm associated with health care to consumers and their whānau. Our team assists with maintaining and strengthening the patient safety culture across Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District.

The Patient Safety Team sits within the Quality & Patient Safety Team in the Centre of Clinical Excellence, working alongside the Clinical Governance, Consumer Engagement, and Simulation Service teams. It brings together the patient safety programmes and work streams with a specific focus on reducing patient harm. We are a close-knit, highly supportive team that works harmoniously together and with the other teams in the Centre. An excellent team fit is therefore a key priority for us. - Have an understanding of reportable and adverse events, patient safety and quality concepts, and equity within both national and international settings.
- Have the ability to procure, analyse, and use data to support the team's work.
- Understand improvement methodology and the principles of project management.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to problem solve to get the job done.
