**The Opportunity**
Our client is an electrical engineering consultancy providing specialist quality technical consulting and project management services to the New Zealand and Australian power sectors. With a strong employment brand and offices across New Zealand our client continues to grow in numbers, they are now interested in talking to Mid to Senior Level (Primary & Secondary) Protection Design Engineers to help service existing clients and continue growth in presence across New Zealand.
**The role**
Working in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch or remotely from other locations, in this role you would be working within a small, specialist and growing team comprising some of New Zealand's top Protection and Electrical Design Engineers. You would primarily be focused on undertaking a range of challenging protection projects.
The role will focus on:

- Power system fault analysis and computer modelling
- Supporting test technicians for protection testing and commissioning
- Providing expert contribution to bid responses
- Manage defined projects in part or whole, from conceptual design through to completion including
- Detailed installation design for power systems secondary systems
- Protection relay setting calculations, reviews and co-ordination
- Configuration of protection relays and provision of associated documentation
- Effectively and efficiently manage costs and resources
- Mentoring Junior Protection Engineers

**About You**
You will need to bring:

- Tertiary qualification
- Experience as a Protection Engineer
- Advanced theoretical understanding of power systems and power systems protection
- A strong desire for technical excellence
- Solid knowledge of modern protection relay systems and software
- Sound problem solving capability and judgement
- Good organisational skills
- Desire to work in a dynamic and team based environment
