**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

In this role you will provide expert design, installation, configuration and administration services for Auckland Transport's data platforms. This is currently for new and existing MS SQL Server and MicroFocus Vertica analytical database environments but will also cover any new analytics infrastructure as Auckland Transport seeks to stay abreast of the latest technological advances.

You will also be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases, analytics platforms and their accompanying software.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide specialist advice and support on Data Management to the organisation.
- Take a lead in the implementation and data conversion for new systems and provide the Database & Middleware Manager technical information, on projects as required, working with Business Analysts and end users where required.
- Undertake installation, configuration and administration of new and existing MS SQL & Vertica database environments following change management and change control procedures as documented within Auckland Transport
- Manage, maintain and troubleshoot all MS SQL and Vertica database environments within Auckland Transport including production, pre-production, test and development environments.

- A tertiary qualification in Information Systems or similar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an MS SQL Database Administrator.
- Experience in SQL performance optimization and tuning.
- Experience working experience in RedHat Linux.
- Experience with SQL Server analytical and integration services
- Experience in SQL Server Cluster.
- Experience with PowerShell, Linux Shell scripting, SQL and T-SQL.
