**Your new role**

You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued.

We have an opening for a Senior DBA to join our data team - including Database Design, Development, Deployment, Operations, Performance Tuning, Upgrading, Patching, Security and Operational Compliance.

As a Senior DBA, you'll have the opportunity to engage across the full range of database activities OnPrem and in the Azure cloud.

**What you'll need to succeed**

Ideally, you'll have a deep understanding of RDBMS concepts and technologies, supported by SQL Server database administration and development skills.

You love the challenges of working in an enterprise environment, with a key focus on database reliability, optimisation, and security. We're looking for the following experience:

- Proficient experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Database service, Such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance and Cosmos.
- Strong experience in Azure Cloud concepts and architectures
- Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
- Manage and monitor performance, capacity, and security of database systems.
- Analyse solutions and implement database best practices for high availability clusters
- Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialisation, recovery paths)
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Perl) and a procedural language for at least one database (T-SQL, PL/SQL etc.).
- Systems engineering experience, including Windows/Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Mentor database administrators to manage the company databases effectively.

**In addition, the following would be an advantage**:

- Experience with configuration management tools such as Azure bicep/ARM templates, Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch (ELK)
- Passionate about learning with a growth mindset.
