Regional Parks: Ranger Field Operations

Our Regional Parks team manages biodiversity assets and recreational opportunities in Ōtautahi-Christchurch and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautu-Banks Peninsula.
We are excited to be recruiting for field rangers to work alongside the experienced Port Hills and Banks Peninsula ranger team for a fixed term of three years.
These roles require a passion for conservation, a high level of fitness for outdoor work and experience in controlling a wide range of animal and plant pests.
Experience with farm maintenance such as managing agricultural weeds, installing irrigation and maintaining fences is also desirable. This role provides a diverse range of project work and includes restoration of some of Banks Peninsula's key habitats as well as rare and threatened species.
There will also be opportunities to work on joint projects with other agencies such as DOC, ECan and the Banks Peninsula Trust. You'll be confident in your ability to work in small teams, have a high regard for health and safety, communicate and take action where required. Being personable and approachable towards the wider community and willing to engage in community organised events is also important.
Requirements of the role - Experience in biodiversity restoration and pest control as well as a positive work attitude, ability to work in a team environment and a desire to learn and develop skills.

Additional information: Hours of work - Full time, three year fixed term, weekdays.
Location - Port Hills and Banks Peninsula team based at Victoria Park.
Salary : $62,674 - $69,638 per annum
