- As Technical Safety Engineering Manager you will be responsible for leading the Technical Safety team in the development and implementation of technical and socio-technical safety standards within COO.You will collaborate to set the strategic Technical Safety direction and prioritise safety initiatives whilst ensuring engineering projects and operations meet the highest safety standards, minimising risks and protecting personnel and assets.Key Accountabilities include:
- Leading and developing a team that serves as a deep knowledge hub contributing technical safety expertise, problem solving and capabilities.
- Championing a culture of technical and socio-technical safety and collaborating HS&W teams to align and implement safety specifications.
- Maintaining Regulatory Compliance and keeping current with regulatory changes
- Coach others to complete expert risk assessments and develop control plans; ensuring safety by design and ongoing assurance activity is established and maintained for hazardous technology safety, including Functional Safety.
- Provide holistic safety training, including human factors and organisational culture.
- Lead investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent occurrences.
- Identification and evaluation of machine hazards and risks associated with the engineering assets, processes, and systems supported within COO.

- With a strong tenure in engineering safety leadership, ideally in functional safety, process safety and dust/powder safety, you will have demonstratable experience in inspiring and leading across diverse and cross-functional teams in a manufacturing or large asset-owning environment. As an effective communicator and coach you will build capability in others and maintain positive relationships and networks across all levels of internal teams as well as external stakeholders.
- You will also have a proven track record of implementing safety systems and systematic assurance measures, and have a strong knowledge of safety regulations, human factors and best practice in socio-technical systems.
- A technical safety qualification is also strongly desired.
