**About the organisation**
Organ Donation New Zealand (ODNZ) is a division of NZ Blood Service (NZBS), and coordinates the donation of organs and tissues from deceased donors throughout New Zealand. This unique service also provides support for families, education for health professionals, and information to the public.
Our shared values are at the heart of NZBS culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire, motivate, and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.
**About the role**
As a donor coordinator/nurse specialist you will work as part of a small team responsible for ensuring the delivery of high standards of clinical practice for all aspects of the organ and tissue donation process in NZ.
This is a challenging and busy role, coordinating and facilitating the whole of the process of organ donation. This includes liaising with families and various clinical teams and agencies both in NZ and Australia to ensure the safe, efficient and timely referral of organs and tissues to transplant centres and tissue banks.
Raising awareness of Organ Donation is pivotal to the success of the service, and you will also be involved in providing education and training on all aspects of organ and tissue donation to both hospital staff and relevant academic institutions.
**About you**
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, experienced registered nurse who is ready to advance their career and join a group of dedicated senior nursing and medical specialists as part of a small team.
You must be keen to help us further develop the service and enthusiastic about extending your own skills. You will be able to work calmly under pressure, be flexible and adaptable to emerging clinical needs, and to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of different health professionals throughout Australasia. Excellent organisational and critical thinking skills are essential, and experience in an acute care setting, working with bereaved people, along with leadership, teaching and writing skills are valued advantages.
If you would like to discuss the requirements of the role further, please feel free to contact Sue Garland or Annette Flanagan on 09 630 0935.
