**Tenei turanga - About the Role**:
Occupational Regulation is a cross-sector team responsible for several different occupational licensing and registration schemes, which currently includes Immigration Advisers, Electrical Workers, Licensed Building Practitioners, Motor Vehicle Traders, Auctioneers and Pool Inspectors. Over time other licensing/registration schemes might come into or out of Occupational Regulation.
As an Investigator reporting to the Manager Investigations, you will be required to utilise your investigation skills across areas regulated by the Occupational Regulation Team. In this role, you will be working as part of a fast-paced and diverse team environment. You will need to have a passion for protecting the public of NZ in achieving good regulatory and lawful outcomes as well as being committed to continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for investigating complaints against licensed practitioners to determine whether a disciplinary breach has been committed. You may be investigating unlicensed matters and pursuing prosecutions where criminal offences have occurred.

**Skills and Experience Required**
- An understanding of the occupational regulation enforcement environment
- A curious and questioning approach, with a strong eye for detail
- Knowledge of complaint processes and investigative techniques preferred
- A proven ability to write legal reports and to interpret legislation
- The ability to assess large volumes of information and make robust recommendations
- Knowledge of tribunals/or regulatory boards and the Court process
- Excellent time management skills, ability to perform under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines under changing conditions.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
