Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground operation. A recent consent to develop the previous Martha mine has provided our project with an extension of life providing our 350 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term.

The role is responsible for driving improved environmental performance through monitoring and analysing environmental effects and using this analysis to better inform decision making. This includes ensuring that mining activities are monitored for their impact on the environment so that compliance with consent conditions can be demonstrated.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Carry out monitoring of the following, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures:

- native flora and fauna - including native frogs and lizards
- bird life
- water quality and quantity
- plant pathogen monitoring
- groundwater levels and quality
- Undertake bait and trapping field work for predators, pest monitoring, and pest control network maintenance activities.
- Preparation of reports related to consent compliance, discretionary investigations, and site reporting requirements.
- Establish and manage time, focus and priorities to achieve individual and team performance goals.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant external stakeholders.
- Identify, plan and (if appropriate) implement environmental improvements.
- Undertake site inspections.
- Carry out administrative functions (write reports, attend meetings, and disseminate information, complete purchase and service orders) commensurate with role.
- Participation in an on-call roster to provide 24/7 coverage for monitoring.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 1 year in a similar role, preferably in mining or construction environments.
- Tertiary qualification in the field of environmental management or ecology is preferred but not essential.
- Full and current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- Experience of off roading / 4WD advantageous.
- New Zealand regulatory processes and obligations
- Microsoft suite of programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams.
