The role

The Accounting Assistant will provide support primarily across the accounts receivable and fixed asset processing functions of the finance team. Orion is committed to continuing to invest in technology and to constantly look for ways to automate and improve the way the finance team supports the business. This role presents a unique opportunity for individuals who enjoy leveraging technology to improve and streamline accounting operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Accounts Receivable - preparation of invoices, receipting of payments, and supporting system interfaces to monitor transaction processing and solve any issues.
- Fixed Assets - review and process asset capitalisations of jobs costs, liaise with Contract Managers to review outstanding WIP, process additions & disposals in the finance system, and monthly reconciliation of the fixed asset ledger.
- Continuous Improvement - Engage actively in ongoing projects that centre around refining processes, including our approaching Fixed Asset componentisation project.

About you

You will know your way around different software (Orion uses MS Business Central), enjoy problem solving, and have a good understanding of how technology is changing the accounting environment. Previous experience in an accounting role where you have been responsible for invoicing and the general ledger is required, along with a desire to challenge and investigate. Someone who is interested in the 'bigger picture' and how to improve processes while understanding how information and decisions can affect stakeholders across the business. A positive attitude and a great sense of humour is also a must
