Senior Operational Policy Advisor

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Community Housing Regulatory Authority (CHRA) is a specialist team that works within HUD's Solutions Design and Implementation Group, registering and regulating Community Housing Providers (CHPs). CHRA is a passionate team, dedicated to ensuring it has organisations of enduring substance on its Public Register capable of housing social housing tenants for the duration of their need.
This is a critical role within CHRA where you will be responsible for translating government policy intentions into operational policy whilst ensuring CHRA operates within legislation. Key to the success of this role will be your ability to engage early with key stakeholders, undertake high level operational policy development, support the development of reporting and monitoring tools as well as provide operational policy advice on behalf of CHRA.

As an experienced senior policy or operational policy advisor, you will quickly build and maintain effective strategic relationships with senior stakeholders within government and the housing sector. You will have proven ability to develop fit for purpose processes, looking for ways to effectively utilise current resources.

**Your background will include**:

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent compliance experience
- Strong relationship management ability
- A self-starter with a proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong analytical ability
- A high level of attention to detail
- The ability to influence and provide a voice for community housing providers
- A solid understanding of the machinery of government
- Experience working in the community housing sector would be advantageous.

- We have a stepped remuneration framework where salary movement happens though defined step increases within a role salary band. Appointment to a step within the salary range will depend on the experience and skills the person brings to the role which will be better known following a recruitment process including an interview. $97,771 (step one) - $119,498 (step 15)
- Salaries automatically move up a step on an annual basis
