Our Engineering team

Our Team is led by Alex Henderson - VP of Engineering. Alex is an amazing people and technical leader with extensive experience in growing engineering teams that support each other so that together they can build an extraordinary product.

At First AML, Engineering work in teams - Hoiho, Tūi, Kārearea and Dottrel. Each team includes 4 developers (2 Front End, 2 Back End and one of which is a Tech Lead) along with a QA.

We work on continuous delivery, where we ship numerous times throughout the day. We believe that this is the very best way to provide value to our customers.

As a team we love to collaborate - each of our engineering teams partners with a dedicated Product Manager and Designer. This way of working creates a great team environment where it nurtures our passion of delivering an exceptional product.

A bit about our Tech Lead Role

As Tech Lead at First AML you will work closely with the product team, ensuring your team is aligned and unblocking them as needed so they have the freedom to do their best work.

You will contribute to an environment that truly collaborates on key technical decisions within your team, and inputting to technical strategy across the entirety of engineering.

**Skills and Experiences**:
About You
- You are passionate about creating and guiding diverse and empowered teams, and having fun while doing it.

- Your experience is your guide and an asset to your team and the whole engineering department. You see an opportunity for growth in the things you don't know, and don't shy away when you're out of your depth.
- You still love writing code and talking about technology. You might be back-end, front-end or a full stack developer.
- You care deeply about your team, you enjoy coaching and growing each team member and seeing them thrive in a high trust environment.

Our tech stack

The front end is a React app built with TypeScript. We use Apollo to consume our internal API.

The back end is a GraphQL API built with.NET core, with a Postgres database.

The whole thing is hosted in containers on AWS and AWS Lambda, managed with terraform, deployed with BuildKite and monitored in DataDog.

Ideally, you will have good experience in 1 or more of these technologies.
