We thrive on providing our customers (NZ businesses) with world-class advice on how to expand internationally and helping them build the capability they need to succeed on the world stage. **What you'll be doing**: - Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel provides strategic and in-house corporate legal advice across a broad range of issues, such as reviewing commercial contracts (including property documents and IT contracts), identifying and advising on commercial and public law, intellectual property, trade law and investment issues, adoption of new technologies including generative AI, managing litigation and advising on legislative compliance issues. - As part of our small Legal team you will be one of the "go to" people for all of NZTE's legal issues and it is highly likely that you will be called on to deal with issues in areas of law that you are not familiar with. **What you'll need to be successful**: - The role is best suited to a lawyer with at least five years PQE, but we will consider applicants with more than four year's applicable legal experience. Ideally your most relevant prior experience will be in a public sector legal team, commercial or public law team in a private law firm; or as an in-house commercial lawyer in a private sector entity. - This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships across the business, providing pragmatic solutions and making judgement calls.
