To provide a safe and reliable transport energy service to Aotearoa New Zealand, we work closely with government to ensure we can deliver against our strategic initiatives inline with policy and regulatory requirements, as well as having our industry voice heard.
In this newly created role of Kaitiaki Hononga Kāwanatanga Government Relations Manager within our Corporate Affairs team, you will drive our strategic engagement with government as well as providing positive influence to enable delivery against our strategy. With your strong working knowledge of the mechanics of government, alongside experience in the commercial sector, you will develop and execute a strategic engagement plan, proactively monitor the regulatory landscape and deliver quality advice to internal stakeholders across Z’s strategic priorities.
**You will have the opportunity to**
- Develop and execute a coordinated programme of strategic engagement with key political and policy stakeholders, to support the delivery of Z’s strategy
- Identify both short
- and longer-term opportunities and risks to Z, and contribute to the strategic planning to realise or mitigate these
- Develop genuine and productive relationships between Z leadership and key government decision makers; as well as building excellent relationships with MPs, advisors and staff across government to facilitate the successful delivery of the Corporate Affairs strategy
- As co-chair of Z’s Regulatory Squad, proactively monitor the political and regulatory landscape and advise internal stakeholders about the relevance and implication of government decisions
- Lead Z’s response to key government consultations and policy processes, by working across relevant business units and the Z leadership team to write and deliver submissions
**Qualifications**:
**What you’ll bring to Z**
- The combination of experience in the private sector and government, ideally 6+ years of Government Relations to bring to this senior role
- Working knowledge of a heavily regulated environment, interpretation of policy and providing advice to a business
- An established network of stakeholders and the ability to build beneficial relationships
- Demonstrated experience of driving engagement and creating a planned approach to strategic initiatives
- Excellent communication skills across a range of levels, sharing and gathering information as appropriate
- Exposure to PR and communications, including securing coverage, providing commentary for media and maintaining strong and broad media contacts

The base salary range for this role is $151,725 to $178,500 per annum, plus 15% STI based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
