Senior Software Engineer

Here’s your opportunity to be involved and shape the core of our product suite as we build out the next generation Cloud Native and Serverless under SaaS models on AWS; but at the same time working in a business with over 20 years of successful business and innovation.

We are currently looking for a passionate engineer to impart their experience within a cross-functional team, breaking the monolith, implementing multi-tenancy and transitioning a world class billing platform to run on C# serverless containers and Aurora Postges (plus the usual splattering of AWS services). This role can be based in Auckland or Melbourne.

Gentrack is a 600 person, growing business, listed on the public markets of New Zealand and Australia. The main people centres are in London, Auckland, Melbourne and Pune.

**In this role you can expect to**:

- Utilise modern AWS technologies for Continuous Delivery with a DevOps mind set
- Operate the system that you build - design deployments, deliver software releases, handle escalated issues.
- Actively contribute within a self-organising, multi-disciplined scrum team; with responsibility across engineering, product quality, QA and documentation
- Lead design and build of new features
- Be involved with feature epic design, as well as assisting in refinment of the backlog
- Work independently but enjoy collaborating with others to solve problems and challenge the team to build quality solutions and deliver on time

**What you need to be successful**:

- You have solid experience in software particularly C# and the.NET ecosystem.
- You know how to support others in the team and impart your knowledge.
- You have a good understanding of object-oriented design and writing clean code - SOLID principles
- You have experience working with Relational Databases - Postgres (preferred), Oracle or MS SQL Server
- You have a high focus on quality and process improvement through automation of infrastructure, build, tests and operational tasks
- You enjoy working with a remote team - The team is spread across Auckland, Dunedin, Melbourne and Gold Coast and you can work from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

**Bonus points**:
We don’t expect anyone to tick all these boxes, but any you can are a real plus:

- You have above average experience in AWS across - ECR, ECS ,Fargate, API Gateway, ECS, Xray, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Code Build, Deploy, Event Bridge. If you have equivalent experience in Azure for running containers at scale - We would love to hear more of that and give you all the time to transition to AWS
- You are living and breathing TDD and BDD - unit tests using xUnit.
- You have experience in building a Billing Platform or working for the Utility sector
- You have experience with docker containers.
