**Company Description**
We’re searching for a commercially astute and experienced Buyer with a keen eye for style and a passion for creating ranges that inspire. As a Buyer within our Head-to-Toe division, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our offer across apparel and apparel-adjacent categories, balancing creativity with sound commercial judgement to deliver ranges that resonate with Kiwi customers.
The Warehouse Group (TWG) has become a Kiwi household name, and we proudly recognise the role we play in communities throughout New Zealand. We are the largest general merchandise retailer in NZ across The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery & Noel Leeming. We are at an exciting point in our journey where our focus is on becoming brand-centric, aiming to deliver an unparalleled experience for our customers. Agility and collaboration are cornerstones of our work culture, empowering us to adapt swiftly and work seamlessly together. By being brand-led and retail-focused, we are intentional about placing the right people in the right roles, allowing us to perform work that truly makes a difference.
In this permanent role, you’ll take ownership of one of our key categories, working end-to-end across the buying process. You will be responsible for curating customer-focused assortments that reflect emerging trends and deliver strong commercial outcomes. This is a critical position where your expertise and influence will directly shape our in-store and online offer.
Key responsibilities:
- Category Management: Drive the performance of your category through effective range planning, supplier engagement, and commercial execution.
- Trend Awareness: Stay ahead of apparel, footwear, and lifestyle trends to ensure our product offer remains fresh, relevant, and competitive.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain productive partnerships with local and global suppliers to secure the right products at the right price.
- Commercial Execution: Develop and implement category strategies that maximise sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Insight-Led Decision Making: Leverage data, customer insights, and market trends to inform buying decisions and identify new opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with planning, product development, and marketing teams to ensure ranges are executed seamlessly across channels.
**Qualifications**
- Significant Buying Experience: A proven background in buying, ideally within apparel or a complementary retail category.
- Commercial Mindset: Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to balance creativity with business priorities.
- Confident Negotiator: Skilled at negotiating with suppliers to deliver value and quality for both the customer and the business.
- Customer Focused: A deep understanding of what drives customer choice and the ability to translate this into commercially successful ranges.
- Highly Collaborative: Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence and work effectively across teams and functions.
- Proactive & Decisive: Comfortable working at pace and taking ownership to deliver tangible results.
**Additional Information**
You’ll be joining a dynamic and supportive environment within a business that’s passionate about its people and its purpose. This permanent opportunity offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact, shaping ranges that connect with customers across New Zealand while working alongside a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Be part of our journey to make sustainable living easy and affordable for everyone.
