Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of get Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Pool and Leisure Centres teams across Auckland to help achieve that goal

The shifts:
Monday - 3:15pm to 7:15pm

Tuesday - 3:00pm to 6:45pm

Wednesday - 3:15pm to 7:15pm

Thursday - 3:00pm to 6:45pm

Fridays --3:15pm to 6:45pm

Saturdays - 8:45am to 1:15pm

Sundays - 8:30am to 1:15pm

There are also Monday, Thursday morning (9:15am - 1:15pm babies and Toddler classes) available for rostering and a set of Friday morning (9:15am - 1:15pm) available also Ideally you will be able to work 10 to 16 hour weeks. Roughly 3-4 day a week (Minimum and weekend hours mandatory/included)

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

- Teaching people the basic principles of how to swim (we'll teach you how to do this)
- Maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors
- Being part of an amazing team serving your local community

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You will be a great swimmer and instructor, have a love of water, have exceptional customer service skills, and be able to communicate well with members of the public.

You don’t need any formal qualifications or experience.

If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that’d be fantastic. However, we will provide full, comprehensive training that you need to excel in the job. To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.

You will also have the satisfaction of knowing the work you do is important and impactful, especially the pride and joy you will get from watching someone gain the confidence that comes from learning how to swim.

We strongly encourage up-skilling and training and as such once you are hired you would have the opportunity to pick up extra hours in a variety of roles such as Lifeguard, Customer Service Rep, Recreation Assistant and more.

Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and is deemed a safety sensitive position.
