**Team Member, Learn to Swim**

Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal to get Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our team in our Pool and Leisure Centres across Auckland to help achieve that goal

This is a fantastic job where you don’t need any formal qualifications or experience - just a passion to work with our diverse community while also making a difference

Currently we are looking for people that are ideally based North of the bridge and can easily travel to one of the following locations for part-time shifts on an ongoing, permanent basis.
- **Albany**:

- **Birkenhead**:

- **Glenfield**:

- **Stanmore Bay**:

- **Takapuna**

We aim to upskill and progress your career, so you have the opportunity to train and take on other functions within our centres, such as Lifeguard, Fitness Instructor or Recreation Assistant. By the same token, if we occasionally need some help in other areas such as on our front desk and general customer service duties, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if short staffed or at peak periods.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that’s fantastic However, if you don’t, that’s fine too as we will provide full comprehensive training that you need to excel in the job.

To be considered for this role, you must:

- Complete First Aid Certificate Training (arranged for and paid for by us)
- Have a love of water and helping others
- Have exceptional customer service skills,
- Be able to communicate well with members of the public

You will also have the satisfaction of knowing the work you do is important and impactful especially the pride and joy you will get from watching someone gain the confidence that comes from learning how to swim.

**Please note we are also looking for people at our South and West centres.**

Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. As such applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing employment.
