**Learn to Swim Instructor | Tepid Baths**

Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Tepid Baths Team to help achieve that goal

This is a fantastic job where you don’t need any formal qualifications or experience to apply—just a passion to work with our diverse community while also making a difference We'll provide the training you need to succeed in the role.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

- Teach swimming to individuals of all ages—from babies and toddlers to children and adults
- Create a fun, caring, and safe environment for everyone in and around the water
- Be part of a supportive and energetic team serving your local community

We have two exciting permanent part-time opportunities available, each offering 6 hours per week.

**Typical Schedule**:

- **Weekdays**: One or two shifts starting around **3:00 PM or 3:40 PM**, finishing by **6:00 PM or 6:30 PM**:

- **Weekends**: One shift on either Saturday or Sunday from **8:30 AM to 11:30 AM or 12:00 PM** (4-hour shift)

**Please note**: Some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the centre and its programming.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

**You’ll be a confident swimmer and a passionate instructor who genuinely enjoys working with people of all ages—especially young children.** While you’ll often be supporting children during key times, you’ll also play an important role in helping adults build their skills and confidence in the water.

Exceptional customer service and clear communication are essential, as you’ll be engaging with families and individuals across the wider community.

This role is all about nurturing joy, safety, and confidence in the water. Whether you're guiding a toddler through their first splash or helping an adult overcome their fear of swimming, your gentle approach and enthusiasm will make a lasting impact.

If you already hold a recognised swim teacher qualification or have previous experience, that’s a bonus—but not a requirement. We’ll provide all the comprehensive training you need to succeed.

If you do not have a recognised swim teacher qualification, e.g. AUSTSWIM, you will be required to attend a two-week training course, we will arrange this.

To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.

**Pay rate: Living Wage, $28.95**
