**Te Whatu Ora - Te Tai Tokerau are seeking a Stroke Physician to work at Whang**ārei Hospital. This is a full-time, permanent consultant role based in Northland, New Zealand.**
We are looking for a motivated specialist with hyper acute stroke experience to join our busy department and provide consultant care to inpatients at Whāngarei Hospital.
Te Whatu Ora - Te Tai Tokerau is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.
Northland has one of the highest rates of stroke and TIA in the country, currently admitting around 350 strokes per annum. We run a comprehensive stroke service with a 6 bed Hyper-Acute/ Acute Stroke Unit (which will soon expand to 10 beds) as well as a closely linked rehabilitation unit. We provide 24/7 care including stroke thrombolysis and are closely linked to Auckland City Hospital where we can transfer patients for thrombectomy.
Alongside our team of experienced physicians, you will provide thrombolysis assessment in working hours including assessment for mechanical thrombectomy where appropriate. You will provide supervision to junior doctors as well as participate in the afterhours on call rota including weekend acute stroke specialist ward rounds.
