Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
We have a permanent Operational Policy Analyst available. Salary is $88,211 per annum.
The role can be based in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, and includes 5 weeks' annual leave, insurances and flexible working.
This varied and dynamic role will enable you to be involved in diverse work - from contributing to housing policy development, providing advice to senior Managers and the Board through to helping with the successful implementation and operation of the various Kāinga Ora work programmes.
The role is highly collaborative and involves working closely with our operational staff and partner agencies.
We have some important mahi to do so we are looking for someone who can be responsible for:
- undertaking analysis and provide advice to inform decisions and ensuring the costs and benefits are fully considered
- providing advice to senior managers and input into central government policy on housing and urban design to ensure it can be well delivered
- developing principles, tools and frameworks to help frontline staff make decisions in grey areas where there is no clear 'yes' or 'no' in relation to a course of action. These will later be turned into operational policies
- ensuring operational policy takes into account relevant strategic policies, legal and regulatory responsibilities
- ensuring Ministerial and organisational decisions can be operationally implemented
- enhancing the overall capability of the team through guiding and mentoring more junior team members during their day to day work
- assistance with preparation of Ministerial briefings and Board papers ensuring completed on time and to a high quality.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
- Experience in policy analysis and development with a sound understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures
- Well-developed problem solving skills including the analytical ability to clearly identify problems; understanding situations by breaking them into smaller pieces or tracing a situation in a step by step way
- Proven ability to manage challenging workloads with resilience and with flexibility to adapt within fast moving environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership
- Sound judgement, discretion and proven ability to work under pressure
- Sound project management skills and organised in the management and monitoring of tasks and activities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain language
