**Hours**:Full time
**Location**:Wellington
**Business Group**:
**Branch**: Regulatory and Identity Services
**Salary**: $77,380 - $96,295
- A key part of New Zealand's approach to tackling organised crime is making it harder for criminals or terrorist groups to move money through legitimate businesses. That's the purpose of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulatory scheme, which requires businesses to know their customers, understand and manage risk, and report suspicious activity to Police._
- The Department of Internal Affairs currently shares regulatory oversight with the Reserve Bank and the Financial Markets Authority. From 1 July 2026, DIA will take on full responsibility as the sole AML/CFT regulator._
- We're investing in our capability across the board to set ourselves up as a highly effective regulator - it's an exciting time to be part of work that's dynamic, impactful, and making a real difference._

We're looking for Operational Policy Analysts (x2) to join our Regulatory Services team at the Department of Internal Affairs, Te Tari Taiwhenua on a fixed term basis through to June 2027.

This role is about turning policy and legislation into practical, fit-for-purpose tools that help our frontline teams do their work well and help our regulated entities understand and implement their obligations. You'll contribute to the design and delivery of exemptions, rules, standards, and published guidance that supports our AML/CFT regulatory system.

You'll bring strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a clear understanding of how operational policy connects to real-world outcomes. You'll also help shape business improvements and support change across the Directorate.

We're looking for someone who:

- Has experience in regulatory or operational policy work
- Can translate complex legislation into clear, usable processes
