**THE ROLE**

A fixed term position is available for a Sample Reception/Entry Level Laboratory Technician in the Auckland Asbestos analysis team.

This role is 40 hours a week between the hours of 7am - 7pm, Monday to Friday.

The role will be quite varied and will include a range of laboratory administration and reception duties, along with some sample preparation. Some lifting will be required in this role.

We are looking for a reliable, energetic, hard-working person with the ability to work well in a small and close-knit team environment.

**Key focus of the role**

The primary duty for this role is around sample reception but can include other laboratory duties as required by the team.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Conducting lab administration duties to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients
- Greeting customers in person at reception and liaising with laboratory staff
- Carrying out sample reception duties, including the receipt and registration using our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Forwarding samples to other Hill sites
- Calibration & Maintenance of equipment
- Preparation of Samples
- General admin and laboratory tasks as required by the team

**Experience and skills**
- Good attitude to learn and develop, is reliable, punctual, conscientious and able to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary
- Key attention to detail
- May have a tertiary qualification in science or relevant discipline, however this is not essential
