**About the role**

The New Zealand Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre ICTSC) are seeking to appoint a District Services Manager, based in Auckland. As the District Services Manager for the Upper North Island, you’ll be responsible for managing the New Zealand Police’s ICT infrastructure and delivering ICT services. But this significant role is much more than infrastructure - it’s about leading the District Services support staff to provide capability to the Emergency Services, maintaining the availability of critical networks, and having the ability to rapidly react to a changing environment, always with a view to ensuring that our Policemen and Women have the tools in which to enhance the safety of our community.

This position will attract an experienced and innovative IT Leader who has an extensive knowledge of ICT capabilities ranging from Telephony, Radio, Infrastructure and people/relationship management, and has the ability to successfully deploy them to ensure that Police ICT services remain highly available.

As a leader you will be working across Police and with our partners in the public/private sector. The engagement with our Police colleagues and service providers will be a feature of this role and therefore strong leadership, forward thinking and ability to grow partnerships is vital. We are seeking someone who is highly motivated and engaged to lead, with the ability to develop and grow Our People.

Key Accountabilities:

- Provide leadership and management within the ICT service operating model framework to a geographically dispersed, highly skilled, mobile team deployed and intrinsically linked with the Police Service Hub to ensure that Police staff and partner agencies receive an exceptional service experience.
- Analyse the service levels that are required in the Districts and ensure that the District Services teams have the development plans and training that leads to the required capability to deliver the services.
- Mitigate risks to service delivery by ensuring that ICT standards of service within the region are consistent with National standards and meet the requirements of our Police and partner agencies irrespective of who delivers the actual service, Police ICT, Partners, or contractors.
- Build relationships within the Districts and provide ICT service representation that ensures district service relationships are robust, healthy and that issues important to our Police colleagues and partner agencies are addressed.

- A background in the telecommunications or IT industry and able to offer guidance to a technical workforce.
- The ability to provide leadership and planning ability in emergency management situations.
- Sound financial and budget management skills.
- Ability to write and present documentation clearly and precisely, with a particular emphasis on being able to articulate complex technical information into a narrative that can be consumed by non-ICT staff and the Executive.
- Experience in Project management.
- Provide expert advice to senior management for the strategic direction of the Teleco and IT environment.
