In the pūrakau (ancient legend), when Tāwhaki ascended into heaven to attain the three baskets of knowledge, he also collected two mauri stones named ‘Hōkai nuku' and ‘Hōkai rangi'. These stones were seen as supporting the three baskets of knowledge, with one having the ability to look back into the past, while the other provided a vision into the future.

Te Aka Whai Ora and all its communities, whānau, and health providers are likened to Tāwhaki in seeking out ora or health and wellbeing. As we navigate through our initial years of work, together with our partner Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ we represent a new and exciting future for health where we can achieve better health outcomes and wellbeing for all our people - _whakahiko i te oranga whānau_

**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**:
Kaiaki Mātāmua - Senior Advisors contribute to key workstreams within Iwi Māori relationships, taking the opportunity to recentre our isolation and quarantine capabilities to be whānau and community focused, and Māori designed and delivered where possible.

**Moū - About you**:
Our Kaiaki Mātāmua - Senior Advisors should bring a good mix of specialist skills and experience and bring a kete full of knowledge and practical expertise not limited to;
- Implementing Ao Māori health approaches and methodology within a range of initiatives and workstreams.
- A commitment to meeting our obligations under Te Tiriti and equitable health outcomes for Māori.
- A basic understanding (strong understanding highly desirable) of tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori
- Willing to participate in both internal and external hui for the purposes of giving voice to whānau and communities in setting the direction of Health Policy within Aotearoa
- A relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification and/or significant relevant work experience
- 4-5 years work experience highly relevant to role
- Sound analytical and an intellectual curiosity
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically, looking ahead for potential issues and opportunities for improvement

The role will require a connect to action and learning on the ground introducing innovative processes. Working alongside other teams within Te Aka Whai Ora to deliver a range of projects from within Iwi Māori relationships.
