We are looking from Expressions of Interest from experienced Transport Department Managers to join the team in Palmerston North. Through effectively managing your department you will ensure that it is delivering quality work for our clients and your people are doing good work every day. You will be directly responsible for the overall operating performance of the Manawatu Transport Department operations and ensure that the department operational targets are met or exceeded.
In addition to the above you will:
- Oversee the running of all heavy haulage, transport, aggregate cartage and site trucks operations feeding into all our other businesses and external opportunities- Manage the commercial, H&S, HR and operational management/admin of the department- Ensure pre-start meetings are taking place, have input where relevant - understand the hazards and the plan to control them.

We’re looking for someone with:
- Minimum of 5 years’ department management experience in trucking fleet / transport / logistics (including job and project management)- Full Licence with Classes 1 - 5 with WTR, DG and F endorsements- Experience transporting a wide range of civil plant is preferred but not essential- Extensive leadership and people management experience with a strong focus on mentoring and leadership- Understanding of job pricing including materials, labour and plant and associated margin / profit calculations- Operational management - planning, resource allocation and coordination- Financial management - budgeting, cost-benefit analysis, reconciliation, reporting- Have an understanding of construction methods, systems and techniques- Time management skills and ability to prioritise to meet numerous and demanding deadlines- Advanced computer literacy, keyboard and file management skills
