**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

As Contract Specialist your role will be to lead the effective management of agents/supplier relationships and procurement of new services and supply contracts, whilst managing the performance of the Regulatory Services core business function to supply and service delivery contracts.

You will lead key process improvements and drive efficiencies for the Contracts team. You will help to develop and embed new practices to ensure we are working effectively and in a 'best practice' environment.

You will be a senior member of the team, becoming the teams go-too person for advice and guidance. You will play a role in supporting the contract managers in their day-to-day contract management and administration, while driving the delivery of the team business plan and the Commercial Services business plan.

We are looking for someone with considerable contracts management experience in purchasing government services, and can bring the following skills and experience:

- Demonstrated experience in managing strategic supplier/agent relationships.
- Ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and agents/suppliers to build effective relationships, manage issues, negotiate contract changes and ensure smooth implementation of Commercial Services strategic activities and initiatives.
- Contract lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with business groups to develop governance models, provide commercial advice, monitoring & reporting.
- Experience in risk assessments and agents/supplier performance reporting. Commercial strategic acumen in supporting operational needs of an organisation.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

The purpose of the Regulatory Services group is to ensure the land transport system is safe and to:
**Provide** oversight of the effectiveness of regulatory interventions on outcomes.
**Inform** relevant and responsive regulation by regular monitoring and review.
**Ensure** effective compliance monitoring and management processes of regulated parties to enable system access for people, devices, and networks, by risk targeted and cost-effective regulatory management of the land transport system.

The Commercial Services Unit has the following primary functions: the integrity of our revenue streams and the management of our core business function contracts and their associated service delivery.

Our revenue work helps to fund the Government's investment in safer roads. We do this by protecting the integrity of the land transport revenue streams we regulate - collectively worth around $4.0 billion annually - and our compliance activities help to create a safe and even playing field for all New Zealanders.
