As a world leader in its field, Arup offers the full spectrum of infrastructure consulting services. As part of the New Zealand Rail team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to rail projects.

In particular, the focus of the Senior Track Engineer is to undertake track and alignment design and consulting services for railway infrastructure projects and related areas in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise, support the track team leader in running projects, and mentor junior team members.

**The Opportunity**
- Provide support and mentoring for staff and allocation of tasks
- Lead the track design for significant and multiple projects being responsible for meeting deadlines and undertaking high quality designs in your own area including design checking
- Lead conversations with key internal and external stakeholders in setting out the basis of our design solution, outlining the rationale for any design variations or departures from standards, and working collaboratively to overcome any problems.
- Provide designs and technical advice throughout the engineering process from project inception to delivery, operation and maintenance in rail specifically related to track design and interface with civil and earthworks
- Contribute to the technical leadership and coordination of small and medium sized projects, as well as being a key member of larger project groups. This will include design, technical documentation, cost estimates, tender submissions, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets

**Is this role right for you?**
- Recognised engineering qualification or preferably degree in Engineering
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies (including attained or working towards Chartered Status, including Technician grades, from Engineering New Zealand or equivalent professional bodies)
- Highly competent in Permanent Way and Alignment engineering of multidisciplinary Rail Projects from Concept and Feasibility Schemes through to Detailed Design and Construction Support
- Experience and understanding of railway track throughout the engineering process from project inception to delivery, operation and maintenance in rail modes
- Highly competent in Track alignment design and 3D modelling utilising Bentley Power Rail Track and Open Rail Designer
