The Ministry of Transport, Te Manatu Waka is the system leader for the transport sector whether it's on land, at sea, in the air, or connecting Aotearoa to the world. We work in partnership with a number of transport agencies to help keep the transport system moving and are the government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment. We play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders.

**About the opportunity | Nga whakamarama mo te tunga**
The New Zealand Search and Rescue (NZSAR) Secretariat team effectively operates as the NZSAR Council's agent and operating arm. The Secretariat provides coordination and support services to the NZSAR Council.
The NZSAR Secretariat Adviser provides secretariat, coordination and support services to the NZSAR Council while also undertaking relevant work in accordance with NZSAR Secretariat work programme.
The Council is chaired by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Transport and its membership is made up of Chief Executive and senior leaders at Maritime New Zealand, New Zealand Police, Civil Aviation Authority, New Zealand Defence, Department of Conservation, Fire Emergency New Zealand, and an independent member representing search and rescue NGOs.
Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.
**What you'll bring | Te wahi ki a koe**
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Adviser (L1 or L2 - you can find specific detail on skills and experience within the attached job description) to join our NZ SAR Secretariat team.
You will work on reporting with the support of our Senior information Analyst, provide high level admin support, manage exciting projects and focus on cross agency relationship management.
- Experience/successfully completed and prepared written ministerial correspondence and briefings across multiple portfolio areas, including ability to anticipate requirements
- Knowledge/Experience with public sector processes
- Experience in end-to-end project management
- Proficient/Strong writing and analytical skills
- Proficient/Strong numerical skills
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and networking skills
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Proficient/strong experience handling datasets

**Salary range | Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau**
Based on the level of experience required for this position, we're looking to appoint someone between $79,078 -$100,420 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
