We have 2 exciting opportunities to join our Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) team as a Māori & Pacific Career Development & Employability Consultant focussing particularly on Maori and Pacific students.
Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) take an innovative, student-centred approach to meeting our diverse student body's career development and employability needs, (In particular, ngā tauira Māori and Pacific students) in culturally appropriate ways, aligned with the university’s strategic goals for employability, WIL and graduate capabilities; contribute to employability initiatives within the wider team.
We provide a wide range of online, virtual and in-person support that enables our students to develop their career management competencies and create their future in particular the careers and capabilities of Maori and Pacific students. Our model supports the development of self-responsibility and empowers students to connect their study to their future direction and confidently transition from education to work, life and further learning.
These roles will see you contribute to developing students' employability skills. As a proactive, energetic and highly collaborative professional, you will demonstrate the experience and credibility to help the team deliver new initiatives and programmes of work, to a student body with diversity in age, ethnicity and courses of study.
These positions provide you with an opportunity to broaden your experience and career development skills and contribute to a diverse, complex and aspirational environment.
These are both full time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent roles. The salary is $66,600 - $82,200 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**
These roles will see you contribute to developing students' employability skills. As a proactive, energetic and highly collaborative professional, you will demonstrate the experience and credibility to help the team deliver new initiatives and programmes of work to a student body with diversity in age, ethnicity and courses of study.
To be considered for these roles you must meet the requirements below:
**Essential**:
- Tertiary qualification in the following areas: careers & employability, education, counselling, HR or equivalent discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the career development of tauira Māori and Pacific.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching interactions.
- Strong facilitation and presentation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in partnership with academics.
- Knowledge of Te Reo, Te Ao Māori and / or the language, customs and values of one or more Pacific cultures. These values and concepts include the unspoken, customary mannerisms and how to have conversations with key people within communities.
- Knowledge of Māori and / or Pacific-focussed career coaching techniques as well as other relevant career coaching techniques (e.g. social cognitive theory, constructivist techniques, Solutions-Focussed, Motivational Interviewing, NLP).
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- High level of understanding of group dynamics, facilitation techniques and blended learning techniques.
- Ability to create career resources using a range of technologies.
- An ability to cope with a variety of tasks under pressure, patience and resilience in a complex work environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing constructively as a member of the careers team.
- Ability to lead and project manage/organise events from start to completion.
**Preferred**:
- Experience in a career development role in education, public service, commerce or industry.
- Experience in at least one field of graduate employment, recruitment, HR or a teaching background
- Experience in working with tertiary students.
- Use and effective interpretation of career assessment tools (values, skills, jobs, industries).
- Knowledge of video interviewing platforms.
- Knowledge of relevant career development psychometric tools (Career Voyager, Strong Interest Inventory, MBTI).
- Knowledge of career management systems.
- Understanding of Equal Employment Opportunities.
