**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We currently have a vacancy for a registered nurse to join our Public Health Nursing Service working 72 hours / fortnight. The position is working with the PHN team to cover the Peninsula. The primary location of this role can be flexible between Waihi, Paeroa and Thames depending on applicant, and will require travel to the Thames. Orientation provided. This position is not suitable for a new graduate nurse. This is a Monday to Friday service with hours between 8am - 4.30pm.

Rural Public Health Nursing offers a challenging and complex nursing role within the community working alongside families, children and schools. A Public Health Nurse is required to be multi-skilled, with excellent assessment and communication skills. Public Health Nurses need to be able to use critical thinking, problem solve and prioritise their workload autonomously.

We work with many health and community providers, including the education sector. The Public Health Nurse Service provides the primary school based immunisation program for year 7 & 8 students twice yearly. Having Authorised Vaccinator status is beneficial. Ongoing relationship building is an essential part of our service.

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- Current NZ Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
- A full current driver's licence and the ability to drive daily and long distances as required
- Relevant postgraduate experience in child and family nursing care of a minimum of 3 years.
- A passion for improving health outcomes for children and their families/whanau is essential and an ability to work within a variety of social demographics
- Excellent communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team is vital for this role
- Proven assessment skills
- Self-motivated with proven time management skills
- Post graduate study is preferred
- Familiarisation with, and use of electronic devices is an essential part of this role
