Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
Join our team as the Principal Advisor for Alcohol Harm Reduction, where you'll lead a ground-breaking initiative focused on enhancing public health through innovative strategies. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to alcohol harm reduction by providing expert analysis, high-level strategic guidance, and fostering vital connections with the community to ensure health equity is prioritised.
As a thought leader, you'll shape our agency's key strategic priorities, infusing them with community well-being aspirations. Your ability to cultivate positive relationships across various sectors will be crucial in propelling our vision forward. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including Te Aka Whai Ora and Te Whatu Ora, you'll ensure public health strategies are seamlessly integrated into cross-sectoral activities.
Your skill in crafting policy documents, guidelines, and advice will be put to the test, and your thorough understanding of the policy process will guide you through scoping, assessment, and evaluation phases. You'll also engage in peer reviews to ensure the quality and accuracy of colleagues' work. With a focus on leadership and project management, you'll drive initiatives that lead to tangible results.
Your mentorship will nurture the growth of junior staff, and your dedication to our values of equity and Treaty of Waitangi obligations will shine through in all your endeavors. Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Proven thought leadership and senior policy development expertise on alcohol harm reduction or other public health issues
- Significant experience in providing advice to Ministers and driving work programmes to ensure delivery of work is to the expected quality
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and working knowledge of the health and social sectors
- Strong relationship management skills and experience in engaging directly with communities,sector groups and agencies
- Commitment to improving equity of health outcomes
- Previous experience working in central government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of Government
