We are currently looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team of Legal and Research Advisors working with Aotearoa New Zealand's tribunals. This is a role where your passion for the law, legal method and research skills will directly contribute to judicial decision-making across a wide range of jurisdictions.

Your day-to-day work will be varied, and will involve providing legal research, opinions and other litigation services (such as reviewing files and decisions) to judicial officers, in the context of a highly supportive team. Your wider responsibilities will involve staying up-to-date on developments in the law and completing special projects to assist each jurisdiction as the need arises. You will have opportunities to research novel legal issues, as well as to learn from the judicial officers about the work that they do and the way they make decisions.

Our team provides legal and research support to the judicial officers of all tribunals administered by the Ministry of Justice. You will primarily be supporting the Human Rights Review Tribunal, Disputes Tribunal, Tenancy Tribunal, Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal, Weathertight Homes Tribunal, Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal, Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal, and the Legal Aid Tribunal, but there will be plenty of opportunities to work across our other tribunals. This position provides a good mix of public/administrative and private law exposure.

Your work in this role will help deliver justice services to the public and gives you an opportunity to build strong relationships across the Ministry of Justice.

To be successful in the role you will have:

- A Bachelor of Laws degree or higher, with strong legal research capabilities and an intellectually curious outlook.
- Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- An interest in learning about the issues our tribunals adjudicate on, and in developing your legal career.
- Meticulous spelling, grammar and attention to detail.
- Prior legal experience with some of the relevant statutes or litigation generally would be highly advantageous.
- 1-2 years experience.

You will also:

- Be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Bring an understanding of, or interest in, Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga.

**Utu ā-tau/**Salary**

Salary Range: The appointing salary for this role will be between $66,518 and $86,865, based on skills and experience.
