Kitchen Assistant

Cafe Encounter is a busy and fast paced environment, with valued and diverse clientele. We are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to be an integral part of our team.

We are looking for a motivated person with a positive attitude to join our Kitchen team. Ideally, applicants will have experience in a similar environment and the role will include:

- working alongside our experienced Chefs to craft varied and inventive cabinet food - from yummy sandwiches and rolls to colourful salads and tasty treats
- a focus on ensuring our cabinet is always prepared for and responsive to customer demand; restocking each day as required
- supporting our daily fresh in house baking; hone your skills and learn from our bakers on the go
- other general food preparation to support our Chefs with delivery of our short order menu and daily specials
- supporting delivery of our in and out catering for small events- some dishwashing and support to our Kitchen Hands when required from time to time- a good understanding of Kitchen Hygiene and Food & Safety Standards - in house training is provided

We would like to talk to applicants with a passion for good simple food done well, who have good communication skills and are keen to learn and develop their skills in the kitchen. Stamina and plenty of energy with a strong work ethic is essential

This role is a great lifestyle choice with daytime hours; we are open 7 days, between 6.30am and 4.00pm. The roster includes some weekend working and fixed days off each week, so you can plan your downtime.

Whilst this is a permanent role, we are also open to considering fixed term contracts of 3 months or more.
