**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our regional team as **Manager, Community and Whānau Wellbeing - Mid-Central/Whanganui.**

The primary organisational impact outcome sought from this position is that NPHS Local and Regional Promotion and Disease Prevention Services achieve equity; are responsive to the needs of community and whānau and are delivered in partnership with Iwi and Māori communities by a Tiriti dynamic and culturally responsive workforce.

**Mōu | About you**

Proven engagement with communities in your area and demonstrated ability developing and maintaining internal and external culturally safe relationships; providing leadership that builds sustainability and resilience and that lifts performance of a team/unit. You will be able to deliver on programmes of work in a complex environment and be involved in developing and implementing effective team strategies. You are comfortable with change; embrace diversity and have proven relationships with iwi/hapū and/or Pacific communities and leaders.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to health promotion, education, disease prevention, Māori or Pacific Health, community development, and/or public health or comparable/extensive experience working at a senior leadership level
- Significant experience in a senior level position with a wide span of control and leading leaders, including solid experience in coaching, mentoring, and managing teams
- Able to think, plan and act strategically and to connect with and inspire people to build a highly motivated and engaged workforce
- Demonstrated understanding of organisational risk and compliance, legal and regulatory requirements regarding relevant regulations and standards in New Zealand
- 5 years' experience in varied environments with responsibilities for achieving equitable health outcomes and responsive to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Extensive business and people management experience for managing a significant division of the organisation
- Demonstrated mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present in a clear, persuasive, and impactful way, to influence others to embrace change, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
