Te Toka Tumai Auckland is part of **Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand**, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s National Health Service.

Starship Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major teaching centre, providing mokopuna centric, whānau led and whānau focused care to neonates, children and young people throughout Aotearoa|New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship is a part of Te Toka Tumai Auckland and is the only comprehensive children’s hospital in Aotearoa|New Zealand serving a population of approximately 1 million children. Auckland City Hospital is NZ’s largest public tertiary hospital which has strong ties with University of Auckland and provides extensive teaching and training opportunities.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have a fixed term - 6 months full-time Nurse Specialist - Māori Health position (40 hours/week) available, working with Māori mokopuna and whānau within Starship General Paediatrics.

The Nurse Specialist - Māori Health role has a focus on Māori as a populations group and requires dual expertise in Māori health advocacy and advanced clinical practice. The role is informed by specialist knowledge of long-standing Māori Health inequities and the systemic barriers which continue to impact the achievement of equitable health outcomes for whānau Māori. The Nurse Specialist - Māori Health role will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide expert advice, care co-ordination and navigation, resources and support to healthcare professionals engaging with whānau Māori.

A key aspect of this role is providing holistic support to tamariki and their whānau during their inpatient journey and ensuring that the provision of care is mokopuna centric, whānau focused and whānau led. The Nurse Specialist - Māori health will also have input into developing new pathways and strengthening relationships working with both clinical and non-clinical teams.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

You need to be committed to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori Health and supporting the actualisation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. In addition, you will:

- Have NZ Nursing Registration with a current Annual Practiticing Certificate
- Have whakapa Māori, Te Reo Māori is desirable but not a requirement
- Demonstrate advanced nursing practice with a focus on Māori health advocacy and leadership
- Atleast 5 years of acute paediatric experience
- Be studying toward postgradute diploma (Masters - desirable)
- Have the ability to connect with and engage with whānau Māori
- Be passionate about and have a focus on caring for the wellbeing of tamariki and their whānau
