Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People focuses on listening to and partnering with disabled people, so that they can inform policies and practices and make decisions themselves on the supports that will enable them to live their own good lives; enhancing their mana and self-determination.
The Ministry's mandate is to provide thought leadership and stewardship across the public service on policy settings relating to disabled people. It supports government agencies to better contribute to positive outcomes for disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori, Pacific disabled people, their families and communities.

Senior Policy Analyst

We are seeking senior policy analysts for our growing policy team.

**Whaikaha is responsible for**:

- Driving better outcomes for all disabled people, tangata whaikaha Māori, and whānau
- Leading cross-government strategic disability policy
- Leading a partnership between the disability community, Māori, and the Government, and to help transform the overall disability system
- Delivering and transforming Disability Support Services, andProgressing work on the transformation of the wider disability system

The policy group in Whaikaha is key to this work programme. This is an excellent opportunity to build your policy career as a senior analyst. Significant experience policy analysis and advice is a requirement. As a senior staff member, you will represent the Ministry on inter-agency working groups. Your sound and well-developed working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, along with your analytical skills and sound judgement, will see people seek you out for your expert analysis and advice.

**You must have**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of disability policy or relevant experience, or a willingness to learn
- Well-developed analytical skills
- A sound understanding of policy development and parliamentary processes and the workings of legislation
- Excellent relationship management skills and experience, and ability to work collaboratively with partners
- Proven ability to produce high quality policy work
- Applied understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and associated government policy
- Good project management skills
- Quantitative and statistical modelling skills would be an advantage

Position Description

**Salary range**: $109,099 - $132,455
