**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
In this new team leader role, you will:
- Have responsibility for the leadership and direction of the Capital Planning and Engineering team. This includes supporting and providing direction to 8 direct reports.
- Prepare and implement team, section and zone work plans and set priorities.
- Monitor the capital programme delivery and escalate delivery issues/risks to the Capital Board.
- Champion and implement council’s project management and governance frameworks.
- Ensure budgets are managed to for the best use of resources.
- Contribute to long term/ annual planning, budget preparation, forecasting and reporting.

You will bring to the Team Leader role:
- Ability to lead and foster a culture of open communication.
- Ideas and strategies to promote collaborative teamwork within your own department, wider directorate, and the organisation.
- Contribution and participation to a positive health and safety culture that values staff wellbeing.
- The desire to achieve and drive consistent project delivery standards.
**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or another related field.
- Project/Programme Management Certification - PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, MSP or similar.
- Over 15 years’ experience as an engineer (or equivalent role).
- Significant experience as a practising Project/Programme/Portfolio Manager delivering multiple concurrent initiatives.
- People leadership experience, which will be beneficial to bring to this role.
- Broad management skills, including business acumen, positive business achievements, and financial management.

- We are a small team of engineers and capital experts, working to deliver capital projects across the Taupo, Hauraki, Coromandel, and Waikato areas.
- You will lead a team diverse in backgrounds and roles, including the Senior Project Engineer, Graduate Engineer, Capital Programmes Advisor, and Principal Technical Advisor.
- We work hard to care for the mighty Waikato, so current and future generations will benefit from a healthy environment, strong economy, and vibrant communities.
