Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Senior Evaluator position is based in Wellington CBD and reports to the Manager, Evaluation & Research. You will conduct and coordinate research and evaluation activities to advance the Ministry's educational Policy development, planning and evaluation and support an improved understanding of the education sector. You will promote the effective use of evidence and build evaluation capability across the Ministry so that effort can be put in the right place in the right way at the right time to enable to enable learners to succeed.
The salary band for this role is $92,598 - $113,175 depending on skills and experience.

Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for an experienced and capable Senior Evaluator.
**You will also have**:
- Tertiary qualification in research, social science, economics, public policy, or related discipline
- Post-graduate qualification in evaluation or relevant discipline (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including negotiation and facilitation skills and experience communicating technical information to a non-technical audience
- An affinity for working collaboratively with internal customers and other stakeholders to determine needs, obtain information, develop approaches, and communicate results
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant professional research and evaluation codes and standards
- An acute eye for detail, taking pride in the accuracy of your work with the ability to see innovative solutions to technical problems.
Mātau rōpū ake | About our group and team
Te Pae Aronui provides integrated operational support to our regions for their work with the education sector and others to deliver inclusive education that meets the needs of ākonga and whanau.
The Evidence, Data and Knowledge Group provides high quality evidence to inform policy and practice. We do this to influence the policies, actions and decisions that help shape the education system and drive excellent and equitable outcomes. We pride ourselves in providing data and analysis that makes information relevant, understandable, and useful for parents, teachers, academics and government.
The Evaluation and Research team undertakes evaluation of key policies, programmes and initiatives in the education system and provide an expert evaluation advisory service to other parts of the Ministry wishing to undertake or procure evaluations or to build evaluative thinking into policy and service design. The E&R team also have an important role in collaborating with the education research and evaluation community to expand collective understanding of education system performance and best practice.
