Central Production Crew Manager

Reporting to the Senior Production Manager (SPM) and Show Set-Up Manager in Central Production, the Crew Manager oversees a team of high performing and high profile Visual Effects (VFX) Supervisors (including Sequence-based roles) and Producers (including Associates). They are responsible for maintaining a strong talent pool of crew and helping guide individual career direction and growth.

The Crew Manager is a people-focused role and primary partnership is in supporting Central Production to cast and resource upcoming projects with the right team composition to meet the needs of our diverse clients and projects. To do this the Crew Manager will oversee regular check ins and team meetings, performance reviews, recruitment and promotions, well-being and logistics management and contract renewals for their team ensuring crew are informed, supported, and enthusiastic in their role at Wētā FX.

**Crew Manager Principal Accountabilities Include -**
- High profile talent management (~50 crew): VFX Supervisors and Producers are a key leadership group in the company and the Crew Manager will support a culture of excellence, professionalism and discretion will be key to your success..
- Establish and maintain a high performing, high morale, resilient team culture where conditions are optimized to do outstanding work.
- Support Central Production in developing and fostering professional development and career pathway initiatives over time, encouraging a culture of shared experience and mentorship.
- Ensure regular communication and information sharing with crew via individual check ins and team meetings.
- Support Central Production in meeting the resourcing requirements for the team by garnering a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges of incoming projects.
- Alongside Central Production, provide meaningful and timely crew feedback and formal performance reviews.
- Facilitate the effective onboarding and training initiatives for the team.
- In partnership with Central Production, facilitate a robust recruitment and promotion process ensuring crew who take these leadership roles are a good fit for Wētā FX's culture, teams, pipeline and workflows.
- Support a culture of pastoral care, monitoring crew well-being including hours management and making recommendations where support plans are warranted.
- Liase with Central Production for the planning, administration and communication of show-based seating.
- Facilitate contract renewals ensuring compliance with company policy and resourcing needs.
- This role partners closely with a number of key internal stakeholders, including Central Production and Senior Leadership, with regards to all decision-making concerning talent.
- A commitment to building consensus amongst stakeholders and communicating widely and consistently is critical to role success.

**Desired Knowledge & Experience -**
- Extensive track record demonstrating successful management of internal relationships.
- Advanced skill in the use of Excel and Microsoft Office.
- End-to-end understanding of the film making process.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, VFX pipelines.
- Familiarity with crew management procedures in large companies.
- Team management skills and performance management experience.
