Due to recent internal staff movement/appointments, there is now an opportunity for a senior nursing professional to join our leadership team in the Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation (OPH&R) Service at Burwood Hospital as the Director of Nursing.
We offer specialist rehabilitation services to Canterbury and the wider South Island community and whanau, and are committed to a compassionate, connected and consumer centred care approach. You will drive our values and lead our teams whilst working for a progressive and supportive organisation.

**The Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation division includes**:

- Older Persons Health (OPH) inpatient service
- Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) inpatient and community services
- Community Services Teams
- Community Dental Service
- Surgical Services
- Adult Rehabilitation Service including complex adult rehabilitation with a neuro focus and the Burwood Spinal UnitBurwood Spinal Unit
- Pain Management ServiceAs part of this role you will work in partnership with the General Manager of Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation and the Executive Director of Nursing, transforming systems and developing a skilled and resourced workforce at the forefront of inter-disciplinary care. Leading a dynamic team of Nurses, you will shine a light on Nursing professions ensuring their centrality in the planning, implementation and delivery of services. You will be based at Burwood Hospital but working with our services across Canterbury.

This is a distinctive role within Te Whatu Ora Waitaha leading our nursing workforce in the Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation (OPH&R) service to continue to deliver world class services to our consumers. This role will be working in partnership with other leaders to ensure that Te Whatu Ora Waitaha is excelling in providing care to our community and whanau. In this role you will be working within a unique environment with multiple areas of growth for the right person. This role provides operational and professional nursing leadership with an opportunity to represent Te Whatu Ora Waitahaat national and regional levels.
As the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the provision of effective professional leadership and clinical oversight for nursing within OPH&R, within a multi-disciplinary context. You will be dedicated to implementing sustainable clinical governance practices that reflects optimal nursing service delivery and effective system change, while providing professional leadership for the work programme that ensures the provision of an educational framework for the nursing workforce in OPH&R. You will also work in collaboration with other Directors of Nursing and Senior Nursing Leaders across the business to ensure consistency and collaboration occurs across the health system.

- Previous experience driving strategy and change in a senior leadership position/s within a large and complex environment.
- Extensive experience in leadership and operational management in a variety of practice settings.
- Commitment to work effectively within the wider health team building, maintaining and utilising long-term strategic relationships across a large and complex organisation.
- Evidence of having applied nursing theory/research to nursing practice with demonstrated evidence of meeting advanced leadership competencies.
- Ability to use the most up-to-date industry insights including technology to deliver sustainable and long-term system and sector improvements.
- Ability to influence and inspire others to embrace change and take action.
- Nursing Council of New Zealand Registration with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing and or health leadership and management and completed or working towards Masters degree preferred.
- Demonstrated cultural competencies in the practice setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to work effectively within the wider health team developing effective working relationships with line management and professional leadership.
