**Requirements**:
As an Intermediate Backend Engineer at Whip Around your focus will be to create world-class solutions for our customers Whip Around is quickly becoming the software platform of choice for business owners, fleet managers and drivers with dedication to workplace safety. Through a mixture of new features and improvements you will work with our team of creators to consistently raise the bar on user experiences and deliver key solutions to our customers.

**Success in this role will look like**:

- Ensuring clean, quality backend code - including unit tests and integration tests.
- An openness to receiving and implementing feedback during code reviews.
- Troubleshooting and debugging is applied to optimize performance across our front end including tooling and enabling observability with SLI’s.
- A high level of collaboration with other engineers to design and deliver project-level solutions.
- Supporting the Product team to design seamless experiences for our users
- Providing input into our engineering practice, governance, and helping create our engineering roadmap.
- Working closely with end users to understand pain-points and specific use-cases
- Taking full ownership of the product/feature from idea to operating in production
- Working effectively with product managers, other engineers and business stakeholders on the project
- Iterating quickly and incorporating feedback to improve the feature
- Supporting and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

**The ideal experience will include**:

- Have proven technical knowledge, with a willingness to share and mentor.

- A unique blend of technical expertise and insatiable curiosity, with a methodical, analytical mindset.
- Energy, drive and enthusiasm for excellent results and a genuine desire to be engaged and motivated by what Whip Around is all about
- Strong experience in backend technologies such as Node JS and PHP
- Understanding of Microservices technology, and AWS.
- Commercial experience working with API’s and navigating through building new API’s
- Growth mindset, challenging status quo to find new solutions and out-of-the-box ideas
