Wairau Hospital - s Day Stay Unit is part
of the perioperative department which consists of 5 Operating Theatres with a
Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and the Day Stay Unit.
Every day
is different and our nursing team enjoys the variety of work, the people they
interact with, and the challenge of giving each patient the best customer
experience, whilst ensuring that everything runs to schedule.
Shifts are rostered and rotating Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:00 to 21:00 hours.

**Surgical specialties covered include**:
General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental
and Acute/Trauma.
As
a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment
with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff
in care delivery, patient monitoring and other tasks as directed.
The full-time equivalent
salary range for this position is $51,770 to $61,540 based on the current NZNO Nursing and
Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience & relevant qualifications.

You
will have the personality and skills to get on with a wide variety of people,
have great communication skills and love helping people. You will have the
ability to work in a flexible manner, demonstrating honesty and
reliability. Good IT and organisational skills are preferred.
Experience
within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training
will be provided.

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English

(or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths
(or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification
(or equivalent)*Desirable
- Home Carer Certificate (or

equivalent)Mandatory requirement
- NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health

Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to
be commenced once orientations have been attended.
