The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (OPNZ), New Zealand's largest dedicated provider of online and distance education, is redeveloping the Environment and Psychology Majors of the Bachelor of Applied Science and we are continually looking for experts to assist the project development team in developing this programme.
The programme includes a range of 20-credit courses at level six and seven on the NZQA qualifications framework, covering the Environment and Psychology Majors of the Bachelor of Applied Science. Our goal is to develop tranches of 4 courses over a 4-month periods with a dedicated project team.

- Practical experience of the Environment and/or Psychology disciplines in the work force.
- Looking to extend your academic expertise into the online and distance delivery arena to make an impact across all New Zealand.
- A team player who is well versed in working with relevant stakeholders and education professionals to update current, learner centric and applied programmes at diploma and degree level.
- Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant area.
- Strong writing and analysis skills, and a strategic approach to planning and development.

Person specifications and areas of expertise
- Relevant and up to date academic knowledge of the Environment and Psychology disciplines in the tertiary sector.
- Experience teaching adult learners.
- An appreciation of the structure of the NZQF and the appropriateness of learning approaches for Level six and seven students.
- Have a good understanding of the professional / industry requirements for Level six and seven graduates.
- Be able to identify and advise on the curation of appropriate resources.
- Be able to contribute to and support the creation of engaging, original, and plain English content, digital assets, activities, and assessments for a completely online environment.
- Be willing to work on a team-based projects to a deadline.
- Be approachable.
- Have a strong professional network.
Content Creator-Subject Matter Expert(s) / Mātauranga Māori Advisor(s) / Pacific Advisor(s) / Content Reviewers
We need skilled and experienced people who have employment, training, or education experience in the Environment and/or Psychology disciplines.
The time commitment for these roles is expected to be up to 10 hours a week, depending on the specific requirements of the courses being developed, for a period of around 3-4 months.
Content Creators/Subject Matter Experts / Advisors / Reviewers will provide input in and feedback to specific parts of the development, as needed. Specifically, they will:
- Consult with the development team to contribute to courseware development with focus on their key area of expertise. This will involve some research and writing.
- Answer specific questions from the development team with focus on their key area of expertise.
- Conduct peer reviews of course materials.
Areas of expertise required
- Mātauranga Māori Advisor: extensive knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori in the Environment and/or Psychology disciplines context.
- Pacific Advisor: extensive knowledge of Pacific peoples' perspectives in the Environment and/or Psychology disciplines context.
- All: Relevant and up to date academic knowledge and/or practical experience in the Environment and/or Psychology disciplines context.
