**Principal**

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Waiū o Ngāti Porou is a composite school Year 1-13 with a roll of around 110 students. There is also a Puna Reo onsite. The kura was established in the early 1990s and is located at 13 Tuparoa Road, Ruatoria.

Over the last 30 years, the kura has maintained a strong reputation for educational achievement, with high-quality teaching and learning supported by active whanau participation. With a worldview based on Ngāti Poroutanga and the principles of Te Aho Matua, students develop a cultural perspective of their role as key contributors to their whanau, hapu and iwi.

Due to the departure of the Tumuaki who had been in post for more than 30 years, we are seeking a new Tumuaki who will work with the recently elected Board to reset the landscape, lead with vision and communicate with the kura community in a timely manner following a period of significant change. The working capital and financial position of the kura is strong and well equipped with technology and resources.

There is a well-established team of nine kaiako in place, with capacity for two more. It is expected that the Tumuaki will undertake some classroom teaching.

The key attributes required for this role include:

- Significant experience in teaching and educational leadership
- Fluency in Ngāti Porou reo and tikanga
- Familiarity with Te Aho Matua and Principals Eligibility Criteria
- Experience in leading change and problem solving
- Excellent communication skills with experience in building enduring relationships
- The ability to teach across one or more curriculum areas
