It is a great time to join our Civil business. Our Civil team is a division of the business specialising in Heavy Civil Infrastructure Construction. We are currently delivering work ranging from Bridges and Wharves to Water Treatment Plants, reservoirs and Pipelines.

You’ll be producing consistent and accurate cost estimates for projects and coordinating the estimating process on a wide range of projects. On a day-to-day basis, you will lead the preparation of estimates, co-ordinate procurement inquiries and work with the team on estimate reviews.

Your reputable delivery and experience will be second only to your leadership qualities. You will be driven by client relationships that lead all parties to success.

This role can be based in Auckland, BOP or Christchurch.

In addition to the above you will:

- Be involved in the preparation of first principles, resource-based cost estimates with identified plant and labour requirements
- Be competent compiling and producing take-offs for individual trades bill of quantities, completing project budgets and cost plans
- Programme the scope of works as per the construction methodology and assessing duration and productivity
- Develop an accurate scope of works, verifying work breakdown schedules and bill of quantities
- Understand and be confident with project specifications and legal requirements, including quality, safety, environmental and sustainability
- Provide input on risk register, tender programme, methodology & clarifications
- Complete subcontractor/supply pricing packages, reviewing subcontractor pricing and performing price evaluations
- Provide handover of successful tenders to operational staff
- Have the confidence to participate in pre-contract negotiations and tender reviews with senior management

We’re looking for someone with:
Key to your success will be your accuracy, your competitive drive and your ability to quickly find solutions in an efficient manner. It is a given that you are a stickler for detail and extremely accurate.

In addition to this we are looking for someone with:

- An appropriate tertiary qualification and/or equivalent knowledge.
- Experience in the use of CCS Candy estimation software.
- Significant previous estimating experience ideally in heavy civil infrastructure (minimum 5 years).
- Experience in or knowledge of the infrastructure contracting industry and New Zealand market.
- Familiarity with reviewing NZS3910 and NZS3916 contract conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently present work in internal tender reviews to secure approval from management
